Description of Class
In this workshop we will cover where to find the government agencies at a federal level that are small business friendly and how to research their budget to tap into the opportunities before they are published. Did you know that some agencies exceed the small business goal of 25% by an additional 50%, and other never come close to the 25% goal. Why work with a buyer that thinks you are a mom and pop shop working out of your basement?
We will discuss the process of leveraging your small business status into government contracts. Just because you are a small business and they have a 25% goal you will not automatically get government contracts. What you can get is an opportunity to work on projects set aside for you as long as you meet the requirements of being a small business.
In the workshop you will learn how to identify your competition and present yourself as the best value to these agencies. We will review the purchasing rules that the Contracting Officer uses to determine if the work should be set aside for small businesses or not. We will also take you through the process of teaming and working with 8(a)/SDB certified vendors for more contracts.
We will review how to meet the five key people in theses agencies: 1) Small Business Liaison Office 2) Buyer 3) Contracting Officer 4) Program Managers and 5) End User Each of these people has their own expectations of what a qualified vendor looks like and we will coach you on how to deal with each one of these people.
